For everyone interested in the future of technology services for nonprofit organizations and nonprofit use of technology in Madison, WI.
MadTech is
Madison's Nonprofit Technology Group. We're new, started towards the end of last year. We meet, once a month to have topical discussions and or networking opportunities. That's combined with co-sponsorship of other events related to the fields of nonprofits, technology, and social networks.
We generally meet, the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:30pm to 8pm. Our current meeting location is
Goodman Community Center on Madison's Eastside. You can also follow us and RSVP for meetings via
Facebook.
Anyone with interest, either at the per event level, group level, or social action level can attend our events. Most events will be free.
Our February 2009 meeting was held on the 18th and discussed
Google Apps. Basic for Nonprofits.Upcoming meetings this year may include: Drupal, FOSS; Facebook for Nonprofits (Profiles, Pages, Groups, and Causes); etc.
In addition to the monthly meetings, we also co-sponsor events. In December with joined the 'Open Everything' network and co-sponsored 'Open Everything: A Conversation on Openness, Access, and Transparency'. We also plan to work on creating more of these events around 'openness'. To that regard we are helping to plan a workshop/panel discussion on Funding Open, and a larger 'Open Everything' event for April of this year.
We also plan to co-sponsor various technology based events: such as BarCamps; and nonprofit specific events such as a 'Nonprofit Day' for either the city or the county of Madison.
