Nerdfighting:
http://nerdfighters.ning.com/
It all started in Jan. 01, 2007 in YouTube with Hank and John Green’s almost daily video blogs (vlogbrothers.) Their project consisted of vlogging back and forth for an entire year with the strict prohibition of textual communication. If any of them missed uploading a video or textually communicated, a punishment ensued. (Yes, those vids are fun to watch. Playlist.)
The YouTube viewer community grew and expanded to take over
www.brotherhood2.com where the videos were posted in their blog. (That is the place to go if you want to catch up on the videos.) Eventually a forum was created called My Pants, where the community was allowed more interaction and general fun.
Since then the community has grown to be large and diverse with the goal to reduce World Suck. One of the Nerdfighting Projects: Project Awesome. Which had the goal of increasing visibility of various Nerdfighters' favorite nonprofit organizations and or charitable contributions. The project was
awesome. It took over YouTube for a full day or two. ReadWriteWeb did a great write-up see:
