Developed by Commons and the APC, this guide provides civil society organizations with both an introduction to open source and a framework for finding software that will meet their needs. Designed to be accessible and helpful to non-profit managers and others responsible for high level technology decisions.

This document helps to unlock the potential of open source for civil society. It provides an introduction to the topic, tackling questions like 'what is open source?' and 'how will it benefit my organization?' It also includes practical, down to earth advice on how to review open source software packages and select the right ones for you.

Just wanted to let you all know that our company - Atlassian - gives out free software licences to non-profits. Worth checking out if you're in need of a wiki or bug-tracker:

Some organisations that use Atlassian products include British Red Cross Society, World Vision and UN High Commissioner for the Refugees.

Thanks for the info Robyn. I wrote up a link above. Not that your post wasn't good enough. I'm just trying to keep actual resource in the Name/Title, Website URL, Description format.
